Work with Chama Valley Independent Schools
Chama Valley Arts welcomes Chama Valley Independent School students, grades Pre-k through 8th, to the arts center during school hours to do hands-on arts exploration. We also take the fun to the Tierra Amarilla Elementary students.
We have served about 175 students during school hours this school year.
The core of all of our work is that within the creative process, children and adults can learn to navigate self-doubt, feelings of worthlessness, and self-exploration which bring about a sense of confidence and self-efficacy carrying over into all aspects of life. This process can be vital in supporting success for our students who, because of life circumstances and developmental differences, rarely experience success in school. In order to try hard things, we have to feel that we have a chance of success.
Our programs provide ALL students, including those who are slipping through the cracks, with the space to try, fail, and try again; with the space to explore, learn through play, and extend that learning into other areas of their lives.
